Description This 100% Pure Refined Shea Butter is a completely natural product, it is lightly refined to remove the natual odor that raw shea butter has as well as color to make it a nice white or off white color. There are no solvents or bleaches used at any step of the process of refinement for this butter, and thus no chemical residue present in the butter itself. Additional information on how it is refined is, the shea butter is washed of any residue or debris from its rough state, then bleached without chemicals to remove the natural color from the butter. It is then mechanically filtered and deodorized to remove any particles and the naturally occurring shea butter scent. This leaves majority of the fatty acids and lipids from the natural nuts undisturbed in the finished product. It thus performs similarly to an unrefined shea butter, and for some applications, such as creating specifically scented or tinted products, or for those who prefer unscented products, it can work better than unrefined. Our real shea butter comes from the nuts of the Shea Tree (Vitellaria Paradoxa) in Ghana, Africa. Known as the “Tree of Life,” it has long been valued for its ability to nourish and heal the skin, hair, and body.
